Help, I'm a skeptic! Can Reiki really help me?




I think most people are preeeetty skeptical about Reiki when they hear about it, and hey, I don’t blame them! I myself struggled to understand how such a thing could help me, and being from a science background I felt I needed proof. It wasn't until I actually went and had a session, and opened myself to the experience that I understood the gentle yet profound effects of Reiki healing. I fell in love with it and just knew I had to share this epic treatment with women who need it. Reiki isn't a treatment for hippies, or weird spiritual people as it was once thought to be haha! It is a sophisticated and modern approach to wellbeing.


Most of us struggle to be open to, or believe in something that we can’t see, measure or isn’t ‘tangible’. Without some solid scientific backing. We are living in a society with extremely high rates of anxiety and stress, with antidepressants being number one pharmaceutical drug being sold in the world. So many of us are walking around anxious, sad and unhappy in this world of high pressure and demands. Now I am not against this medication at all, I believe it is extremely helpful in some cases. But if science had all the answers, would these numbers be so high in the first place? We have all heard of the pharmaceutical industry conspiracies (which I won't go into now!) and more and more people are starting to look at alternative methods to manage day to day life. Why not go against the grain, and trust in a different healing modality, try something new and see where it takes you.


Reiki is wonderful at healing wounds around love, it works well for grief, shame and loss. Reiki also brings energy to the areas in your body that require it, increasing circulation and oxygenation. Body systems begin to break down when there's not enough blood flowing freely, our blood brings nutrients and oxygen to our bodily systems and removes waste products from the cells.


Reiki also releases stagnant and stuck emotions from the body tissues and our energetic system. When we don’t allow ourselves to express our feelings (yep, shoving down those emotions of jealousy, rage etc), they get packed away in the cells of our body. This is always bad for us! Nerve cells and tissues hold unresolved trauma, and muscle, organ and fat tissues hold unexpressed emotions.


These pent up emotions create blocks in the flow of energy through our bodies, which is a big source of long term health problems. Let's say for example you're a person who never allows yourself to cry, you shut down your heart and allow the grief and pain to fester inside. You may even hold your breath to stop yourself crying. After a couple of decades of doing this, the actual muscle and tissue of your heart weakens and chronic physical problems begin to develop. All the more reason to let those tears flow people!


Reiki is wonderful at facilitating emotional release, I often see clients crying, laughing or feeling angry. This is SUPER healing, and I hold a safe and supportive environment for this process to happen.


Reiki also heals through relaxation, when we relax the body's natural healing capabilities kick into gear. As we all know, there have been many scientific studies to show stress is a killer. Anything we can do to relax, release, let go and de-stress in this day and age is of epic benefit for our wellbeing.

Before I connected with Reiki healing, on my journey, I had weight issues, anxiety, hormonal imbalances, acne, blocked chakras, relationship difficulties, and I definitely drank too much wine! Reiki healing treatments helped immensely to bring my body, mind and spirit back into balance. With life force energy starting to flow freely within me, I started to make healthier lifestyle choices, had more self love and had my passion for life back. I continue to do self healing treatments on myself daily, to keep myself in check! I am well aware that healing is a journey, not a destination, and I always ensure I am moving forward on my own path to show up as the best version of myself for those around me, and my clients.


Reiki treatments require you to be open to the experience, without judgement or an outcome in mind. Reiki truly gives you what you need. You need to experience Reiki to understand it and feel the benefits. I implore you to give it a go, and enjoy the beautiful experience!
